KOKUBU was founded when Kanbei Kokubu IV opened the retail store “Daikokuya” in Edo Nihonbashi.
As a food wholesaler, we deliver foods across all of Japan.
Responding to needs that change with the times, we have shaped new ways of food distribution thanks to our wealth of product knowledge and proposal capabilities. KOKUBU’s strengths lie in our reliability and flexibility, reinforced by our long history.

Established in
1712
Kanbei Kokubu IV, borned in Izawa where was the southern area of Ise-matsusaka, started the business in Edo-Nihonbashi since 1712. It is recorded that he was dealing with the Kimono trade as well as started the soy sauce brewing operation at the period of establishment. In the early Meiji period, it converted to a foodstuff-wholesaling while withdrawing from the soy sauce brewing industry.
